Bradford Grammar School is renowned nationally for both its excellent pass rates in both A-Levels and GCSEs and its wholehearted embrace of ICT, believing that it is essential to learning in the modern world. They are committed to ensuring every pupil that leaves their school is ICT literate. The school has recently built a multi-million-pound Sixth Form Centre, funded primarily by Roger Evans and pupils’ fund-raising.
Bradford Grammar School is a selective co-educational school which seeks to retain the best of the traditional grammar school ethos with a modern, forward-thinking approach. Their aim is to achieve excellence in all they do: not only in academic
Bradford Grammar School was founded in 1548 and granted its Charter as the Free Grammar School of King Charles II in 1662. It is now an independent school although it was a direct grant school until 1975
There are currently 1106 pupils in the School, including Senior, Sixth Form and the Junior School (Clock House).
ICT is available as a specialist subject at GCSE, AS level and A level. Believing it essential that every pupil leaves their school ICT literate, they are committed to investment and development of their ICT facilities. In 2001 they opened two additional ICT suites as part of a multi-million pound development programme making 10 in total. In 2003 they opened the digital language laboratories together with a similar suite for Sixth Form students.
The use of electronic whiteboards and projectors have enabled pupils to learn more effectively and for teachers to be able to deliver lessons in a more interactive and enjoyable way. The use of interactive whiteboards has increased enormously throughout the school and across all departments. They have used the philosophy that boards will be installed in classrooms where there is a need but this is rapidly becoming everywhere.
